MY LAW LINKS LADIES HIT THE ROAD...![]() MYLAW prides itself on providing “real life” experiences for young people. We value the partnerships, community, and alumnae who return to our programs to channel our youth in positive directions.
MY Law Links is a paid, full-time, summer internship for youth interested in gaining professional work experience, or who are considering a law-related career path. During the Law and Leadership Institute, the educational component of the program, our interns are exposed to an array of speakers and experiences. Ms. Alicia Wilson, Law Links ‘98, spoke to our interns about her experience as an intern, and described her memory of being told that they were setting the stage for the future of this internship program. “The way you conduct yourself, the work you perform, and the relationships you develop would determine whether the program continues.” In September, Alicia Wilson contacted us regarding an opportunity for 10 female Law Links interns to attend the Girls Who Rule the World Conference, hosted by the Steve and Marjorie Harvey Foundation. Alicia worked her magic and afforded 10 Law Links young ladies and 5 chaperones an all-expense paid trip to Atlanta for a transformational weekend this past October. . Each of our interns formed new friendships, stretched beyond their comfort zones, and were empowered as they journeyed through the weekend. The retreat culminated with climbing Stone Mountain collectively- each person holding on, cheering, and embracing their journey with amazing women. “To the Top- because the bottom is not an option.” Our interns were awarded college scholarships from the Steve and Marjorie Harvey Foundation and the top Future Leader for the entire conference was one our rising stars, Alivea Harris. We are so incredibly grateful to our alum, volunteers, and partners for your support of our mission and youth we servE. “When people begin to interact together genuinely, and they are open to each other’s influence they begin to gain new insight.” For more program information, contact Shelley Brown at shelley@mylaw.org or 667-210-2250.
