2017 LAW DAY: YERTLE THE TURTLE IS A LAW DAY HIT!
![]() While it may not have been critically acclaimed, there's no doubt that Yertle the Turtle was a smashing success for MSBA's and CLREP's 2017 Law Day Event, conducted in collaboration with the MSBA Public Awareness Committee, Port Discovery, and Jim MacAlister, lawyer and play writer.
Based on the 2017 Law Day theme of "The 14th Amendment: Transforming American Democracy," Yertle the Turtle proved an excellent reminder that no one - not even a King - is above the law. On the far away island of Sala-ma-Sond, Yertle the Turtle was king of the pond. A nice little pond. It was clean. It was neat. The water was warm. There was plenty to eat. The turtles had everything turtles might need. And they were all happy. Quite happy indeed. They were...until Yertle, the king of them all, Decided the kingdom he ruled was too small. Sounds like trouble in Salamasond! We invite you to attend CLREP'S 2017 Law Day event - a 30-minute interactive play designed for elementary school-aged children to think about the law, and the protections our country affords EVERYONE... Even the tiniest and weakest turtles in the pond! In partnership with the Maryland State Bar Public Awareness Committee, the Maryland Association of Administrative Law Judges, & Port Discovery, CLREP is hosting Sadie v. King Yertle. |
